Tire-derived Fuel
A majority of our inbound tires are processed through a series of commercially available shredders that sequentially reduce tires from whole tires to two – inch or smaller chips which are used as an alternative fuel (“TDF”). The beaded steel passes through a rasper system and is then removed magnetically, yielding a 90% wire free chip. It has been shown that TDF chips are an efficient alternative fuel source providing on average, 15% more BTU's than a majority of coal grades and reduces overall noxious emissions by up to 30%. Currently in development are gasification combustion furnaces which, through various technologies, reduces the tires into several elemental components including a low grade bio-diesel fuel, carbon black, clean steel and syn-gas for power generating turbines.
