- Produce and sell tire chips as tire-derived fuel (“TDF”) which is an effective substitute or secondary fuel source used by paper mills, cement kilns, and electric utility companies. Cement kilns and electric companies can also use whole tires as a fuel source.
- Produce a larger tire chip or shred used as a substitute for crushed stone in civil engineering applications such as road beds, landfill construction, and septic field construction.
- Manufacture and sell crumb rubber which is used for playground and athletic surfaces, public walkways, running tracks, sport turf fields, landscaping/ground cover applications, equestrian arenas, rubberized asphalt, and other molded rubber products.
- Manufacture, sell and install playground safety tiles consisting of our crumb rubber feedstock, along with playground equipment and full turnkey services which include annual safety reviews, post sale maintenance programs to schools and park recreation facilities currently in California, Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri.
- New gasification and pyrolysis applications are in development that are expected in the future to produce low grade fuel oils, ethanol, a carbon black by-product, and agricultural zinc sulfate.
The company markets its products and services through a direct sales staff. GreenMan’s customers consist of those applications referenced above as well as tire manufacturers, local and regional tire outlets, state governments, schools and park recreation departments. The company was founded in 1992 and currently operates processing facilities in Savage, MN, and Des Moines, IA. The two facilities process nearly 12 million tires out of the nearly 300 million scrap tires created in the U. S. each year. Both facilities have open capacity to handle additional tires generated in the region. The company also operates a playground safety tile manufacturing facility in Carlisle, Iowa and playground equipment warehouse in Macon, Missouri.
